NC State Wolfpack wide receiver Teddy Hoffman will miss the entirety of the 2026 season due to a suspension handed out by the NCAA. The school announced on Monday that the player had recently tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance. The positive result automatically triggers an NCAA suspension for one calendar year.
Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren released the following statement on the matter:
“Teddy made a mistake that he’s taken responsibility for in front of his teammates and coaches,” said NC State head coach Dave Doeren. “It’s an unfortunate reminder about the importance of always checking with the sports medicine staff before taking any type of medication or supplement to make sure it’s permitted. I know he will learn and grow from this experience.”
Hoffman is coming off his freshman year at Raleigh, North Carolina, where he recorded 25 receptions for 349 receiving yards, with three touchdown catches. He also had a 59-yard touchdown pass in a trick play against Pitt last season.
He was expected to have a bigger role in the 2026 season, as top receivers Terrell Anderson and Noah Rogers are transferring to USC and Alabama, respectively.

The one bit of good news for Dave Doeren is that the school has already secured the transfer of five wide receivers for NC State in 2026. Victor Snow, in particular, is a strong addition for the Wolfpack, as he recorded 815 receiving yards, with eight touchdowns in 62 receptions in 2025. He was tied 13th in the FBS in total receiving touchdowns last season.
Tyler Warren and Davion Dozier are solid additions, too, with both having 400+ yards seasons in 2025. Warren has 442 receiving yards, with four touchdowns in 24 receptions for Alcorn State last year. Dozier had 448 receiving yards, with five touchdowns in 20 receptions in 2025.
Teddy Hoffman might have problems finding a spot in the lineup next year. Although it seems that the coaching staff is willing to give him another chance.
