After announcing his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners in September last year, it looks like four-star wide receiver prospect Demare Dezeurn has parted ways with the program.
The Class of 2027 wideout made his decommitment official via Rivals, without giving any discernible reason behind this decision.
Meanwhile, Dezeurn’s decommitment has garnered a lot of chatter online, with mixed reactions coming from fans on X.
“we had been expecting this,” said a fan.
“…and he’ll be somewhere else after next season…and the season after that….and the season after that,” stated a fan.
“Big Woop. No matter. Happens all the time. Move along,” wrote a fan.
“WR’s are a dime a dozen. Easily replaced,” commented a fan.
“Nooooooo I dislike this news a lot! This young man has blazing speed!” said another fan.
“Not Oklahoma material unfortunately,” stated another fan.
Upon hearing the news of Dezeurn’s decommitment, a few California Golden State Bear fans also expressed their interest in signing the four-star prospect.
“The best in California should play in California,” wrote another fan.
“Yeah that’s a golden bear 🐻,” commented another fan.
While it remains to be seen where Demare Dezeurn heads next, he is one of the most sought-after players in California. His sub-100 feature on ESPN SC Next’s top prospects list means a lot of teams would be vying to recruit him.
The 5’11”, 170-pound WR has previously received offers from a plethora of programs, including a few big names like Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Texas.
Sooners Boast Quality Roster Depth With Multiple Four-Star Recruits
Despite WR Demare Dezeurn’s decommitment from the program, Sooners’ head coach Brent Venables won’t be too stuck up considering the recruitment depth Oklahoma possesses across positions.
The Oklahoma-based program boasts as many as 14 four-star prospects, with the likes of OT Cooper Hackett, OLB Cooper Witten, DE Krew Jones, and ILB Taven Epps, among others, reflecting the program’s roster strength.
As the aforementioned names can only feature for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2027, coach Brent Venables will focus on bettering his side’s 2025 first-round playoff in the upcoming campaign.
