We’re just three days into the spring transfer portal period, and the entrances to the portal keep coming.
We’re here to break down how the quarterback market in the portal shook out on Day 3.

Day 3 QB Transfer Portal Review
By the end of the day on Friday, seven Division 1 QBs entered their name into the portal within the last 24 hours.
Though there were no big-name players among the group, all seven were three-star prospects coming out of high school and could be difference-makers with their next program.
Billy Atkins from the James Madison Dukes was the first to enter the portal on Friday. Seeing scattered playing time in four seasons, the 6’2, 204-pounder compiled 474 passing yards and five touchdown passes versus five interceptions. Though likely not a starter at the Power 4 level, he could serve as a depth piece, providing maturity to a young QB room.
Wyoming Cowboys freshman QB Deyon Batiste was next after redshirting in his lone season with the program. At 6’5″, 235 pounds, he’s a big-armed signal-caller with loads of potential for a program willing to take on a developmental prospect.
Similarly, Nevada Wolfpacks passer Anthony Grigsby Jr. entered next after not recording any playing time in two seasons in Reno. The 5’11, 190-pound Stockton, CA, native could join an FCS program to contribute next season.
After spending just one season with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, freshman QB Silas Corder also placed his name into the portal. The Mississippi native is considered a pocket passer and will look elsewhere to continue his career.
The day finished with the announcement of two commitments, as freshman Jeremy Hecklinski moved on from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to join the Bowling Green Falcons.
Redshirt junior Zach Pyron also found a new home, as he committed to the South Alabama Jaguars.

Pyron has been around throughout his four-year college career, beginning with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where he spent all four seasons. He saw action in 19 games, throwing for 995 yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Pyron also proved to be a threat with his legs, used in exclusive running packages, and amassing 271 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
The former Yellow Jacket started one game in 2024 against the 12th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish, completing 20 of 36 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, he threw two picks and Georgia Tech was defeated, 31-13.
After the 2024 season, he decided to transfer and enrolled with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, where he spent the winter and participated in spring practices.

After presumably not fitting into the Golden Gophers QB depth chart as he may have liked, he’s headed to South Alabama for his final year of eligibility.
Another day down, seven more passers who will- and have- found new homes to continue their college football careers.
