Texas’ Steve Sarkisian Outlines Why Courting Arch Manning Was Unlike Any Other QB

Longhorns head coach Sarkisian has shared details concerning quarterback Manning’s recruitment, highlighting a relatively simple process despite Manning’s renowned family history.

In an interview on the “Up & Adams” show, Sarkisian highlighted Manning’s recruitment as “so normal,” in contrast to the challenges that often arise with high-profile sportsmen.

“First of all, in the recruiting process, it was the most normal recruiting process,” Sarkisian shared. “I’ve recruited a lot of quarterbacks in my time and had some great ones. They can be difficult; they can be tough. With Arch, it was so normal, great family, great home life.”

In addition to the recruitment process, Sarkisian stated that Arch works harder than any other student-athlete.

Sarkisian stated, “It wasn’t about the name on the back of his jersey.” It was How can I help, what can I do, can I be a great teammate.”

Sarkisian revealed that he interacted primarily with Arch’s family members, particularly his parents, Cooper and Ellen Manning. He said, “I never talked to Peyton, I never talked to Eli,” emphasizing the family’s desire to let Arch choose his path.

Manning’s commitment to Texas in June 2022 sparked a chain reaction, bringing other elite prospects to the program. Sarkisian acknowledged the significance, claiming that Manning’s decision “spearheaded” a wave of commits, enhancing the team’s skill base.
