Former Akron RB Teon Dollard Enters Transfer Portal

Last seen in 2020 before facing felony charges for weapons, former Akron RB Teon Dollard is in the NCAA Transfer Portal. What's next for Dollard?

Last seen on a football field in 2020, former Akron RB Teon Dollard was a bright glimmer of what could be for the Zips. However, after off-field incidents, including facing felony charges for weapons in 2021, the college football world hasn’t seen him in over two years. That was until he entered the transfer portal at the turn of the New Year.

Teon Dollard Enters Transfer Portal

Dollard emerged on the scene at the tail end of Akron’s 2020 season. He rushed for 666 yards and six touchdowns in just six games.

Those six appearances saw him average 5.9 yards per carry and torch defenses at every turn. Dollard rushed for four touchdowns and 202 yards against Kent State that season, showing off his full skill set on seemingly every snap.

In three different games, Dollard averaged more than 7.0 yards per carry as he proved to be too much to handle for most defenses he faced.

However, after off-field troubles caught up with him, Dollard was indefinitely suspended from the Akron team in March of 2021. Shortly thereafter, Dollard was officially removed from the team due to felony charges from an off-campus incident with a weapon.

A search of the Summit County Clerk of Courts paperwork did not turn up any official arraignments or pending court cases. Now, Dollard is officially in the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.

Assuming all goes to plan, the college football world will see Dollard return to the field this fall, where he’ll bring a valuable set of skills to any team in need. Dollard has great speed, excellent vision, and an elusive burst to his game. When Dollard plants his foot in the ground, he gets upfield and makes defenders miss with ease. Few backs have the well-rounded skills that Dollard possesses.

If he’s back in good standing and maintained his on-field ability through a two-year hiatus, you can expect to hear Dollard’s name called in 2023. And expect to hear his name called a lot.
