WTA Stuttgart 2026 Bracket And Ranking Update After Coco Gauff & Iga Swiatek Crash Out On Same Day

The 2026 Stuttgart Open had an explosive quarterfinals round, which witnessed the elimination of the top-ranked WTA players, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek.

Gauff, who was the second seed in the tournament, crashed out against No. 7 Karolina Muchova, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3. In one other quarterfinals match, Swiatek, who entered as the third seed, was defeated by Mirra Andreeva, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

However, since both Gauff and Swiatek were defeated in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Stuttgart Open as well, they had no ranking points to defend; therefore, their ranking points remained the same.

Gauff will remain third in the rankings with 7,278 points and Swiatek at fourth with 7,263 points. However, this also means that the two stars failed to make gains in the rankings because the net change in their ranking points will remain zero. Had they advanced, it could have helped their WTA rankings. They will be vulnerable to others who advanced better than their finishes last year in Stuttgart.

Other top WTA players, meanwhile, made gains, those who advanced further than where they were eliminated last season in Stuttgart.

No. 2 Elena Rybakina, who didn’t participate last year despite being the defending champion, has reached the semifinals this year. As per the Live WTA Ranking points, she has gained +87 ranking points already, taking her total to 8,195 points. If she wins the tournament, her total would go up to 8,500 points, which would reduce her lead to No. 1-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka (10,895)

Meanwhile, Jessica Pegula, who didn’t participate this season, lost 107 ranking points, and she currently stands at No. 5 with 6,136. Elina Svitolina has a chance to reach 4,040 points if she advances past the semis. Similarly, rising star Mirra Andreeva can also get up to 3,876 points if she is able to win her semifinal encounter against Rybakina.
