Venus Williams’ hopes of adding another doubles title at Wimbledon came to an end after her sister Serena Williams withdrew from the event, citing an injury. Following the setback, Venus’ husband Andrea Preti shared a sweet message of support for her.
The Williams sisters’ highly anticipated Wimbledon doubles campaign ended before it could begin when Serena was forced to withdraw due to an injury sustained during her first-round singles match against Maya Joint. Serena injured her right knee late in the opening set, which reportedly caused immediate swelling after the match. Serena also skipped her post-match media duties.
Their opening-round doubles match was initially moved from July 3 to July 4 to give Serena additional time to recover. However, just hours before the rescheduled contest, the 44-year-old announced her withdrawal, ending the sisters’ Wimbledon campaign.
Shortly after this update, Andrea Preti shared a sweet message on his Instagram story, consoling Venus. He posted an adorable picture with his wife and penned a note that read:
“🩵💪🏻🩵 The best is yet to come.”

Venus Williams competed in mixed doubles alongside Kevin Krawietz. The pair faced Lloyd Glasspool and Tereza Mihalikova in the first round and lost 6-4, 6-4.

I am deeply proud of you—of the woman you are, of your quiet strength, and of the unique light you bring into the world, and especially into my life. Watching you grow, chase your dreams, and shine so brightly moves me in a way that goes beyond words. It’s a feeling that fills my heart completely, one that makes me feel lucky, chosen, and more in love with you every single day,” PRETI WROTE.
He added:
“I will always be one step behind you… but only so I can admire you better, protect you without ever holding you back, and support you without ever limiting your freedom. I will always be there, with my hand ready to reach for yours, with my heart ready to comfort you when things feel uncertain. But above all, I will be the one who believes in you, even in the moments when you might forget to believe in yourself. You are my greatest inspiration, my strength in difficult times, my purest pride.”
