“Taylor Townsend Is Nothing Without Katerina Siniakova” – Fans Brutally Call Out American After She Shows Off Sunshine Double Win

Taylor Townsend completed a rare feat in tennis after winning both the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open with partner Katerina Siniakova in women’s doubles. The Sunshine Double feat makes the pair only the sixth ever to do so and the first since 2019 (Elise Mertens/Aryna Sabalenka).

On Tuesday, Townsend boasted of her achievement on Instagram in a unique way. She shared a screenshot from ChatGPT where she asks if she was the first mother to win the Sunshine Double. The ChatGPT responded in affirmation and she added in the caption:

    “I love making history.”

The Instagram post didn’t sit right with some fans, as they thought of it as an unnecessary self-centered boasting.

“She’s so self centered omg,” one fan remarked.

“She acts like she’s the world number one in singles 💀 like honey sit down you play doubles lmfao,” one fan added.

“She is nothing without Siniakova,” one fan commented.

“Without the current doubles GOAT Siniakova, she is nothing. She knows it I’m sure,” one fan reacted.

“She’s proud. Like that’s something wrong,” another wrote.

“is taylor townsend the first mother to be racist towards a country hosting her? probably not, but she is definitely part of the group!” one fan wrote.

“She is a mother ?  Who’s the father?” one fan asked.

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova After Accomplishing Sunshine Double

After winning the Indian Wells Masters, Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend doubled down in Miami, defeating Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini in the finals, 7-6(0), 6-1. Siniakova, who won her eighth WTA 1000 championship, said (via Miami Open):

“It was an amazing journey. It was really difficult because the conditions in Indian Wells and here are totally different. We worked really hard and maybe the rain today helped us because we found the rhythm. I’m really proud of how we improved as a team and both those titles mean a lot.”

It was Townsend’s fifth double title with Siniakova.

“I’m just happy we’ve done something together, accomplished this as a team,’’ said Townsend. “That goes down in the history books like, ‘Taylor and Kat, Taylorina did the Sunshine Double.’ It’s really special for me because it’s something Kat hasn’t done before. Finally, we’re making history together. Every time we do things, she’s won this, she’s won that. This is nice and is something new to me. It means a lot to me because I’ve never accomplished it before in my career and when we started we never talked about this.”

It was Townsend’s first Miami Open title of her career. She has strengthened her position as one of the best doubles players in the world, continuing her rise after becoming World No. 1 in doubles (2025).
