Taylor Fritz Reveals Untold Reality Of Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner Getting Priority Treatment In Tournaments

Taylor Fritz offered a candid look inside priority scheduling at the highest levels of professional tennis.

Fans often observe top-ranked players getting matches on weekends, with their games held at night. Part of it has to do with increasing viewership and filling the seats, but sometimes those changes are made to ensure top players continue to come back to these events.

Fritz, who was livestreaming on Friday, explained that top players have their way when it comes to scheduling while answering a query from a fan.

“Carlos, Jannik and Novak, if they are playing, they’re going to get the time slots they want,” Fritz said. “But you’re also separated in the draw. So at the same time, Carlos and Jannik are going to be split. On one day, Carlos is going to get his pick. On the next day, Yannick is going to get his pick. And then whoever the next highest seeds are will probably get a say.”

Fritz also answered where he is on the tour in terms of priority level.

“So I would probably say I’m like third priority,” Fritz added. “I won’t get to pick the time I play on center court. But if I want to pick the time I play on, like, Court 2, I might be able to say, ‘Hey, don’t put me first, but also don’t put me in the night match.’ And I’d say that’s about it.

“But at any point, if I play one of those top guys, then it’s like, yeah, forget that. Whatever I want to do is completely out of the question. We do what they want to do. Like, if I play Novak and he wants to play me at night, they’re going to put my a** at night against him. That’s kind of just how it is.”

Taylor Fritz Returns Home For Indian Wells Tournament

The 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, a Masters 1000 event, is considered one of the biggest tournaments outside the Grand Slams. Taylor Fritz won here four years ago and considers it his “home” tournament.

Fritz will also play for the Eisenhower Cup, a Tie-Break Tens event at Indian Wells. Fritz and partner Elena Rybakina will return to defend their title from last year.

Fritz hasn’t had a great beginning to the 2026 season. He suffered a straight-sets defeat to Lorenzo Musetti at the Australian Open in the fourth round and a loss to Ben Shelton in the final of the 2026 Dallas Open.

In the offseason, he dealt with tendonitis and knee issues, which hampered his preparations. He will be hoping for the best outcome in Indian Wells.
