Nick Kyrgios Spotted At Nightclub Right Before Crashing Out Of Australian Open: Reports

Nick Kyrgios has a way of getting himself into controversies and concerning reports have come across right after his mixed doubles exit at the Australian Open. Kyrgios, who already suffered a first-round defeat in men’s doubles and is not playing the singles event, suffered a humiliating defeat in the second round. His pairing with Leylah Fernandez did not last long as they went down 6-3, 6-1 against James Tracy and Anna Danilina.

On Tuesday, Herald Sun’s Instagram account posted a small clip in which Kyrgios can be seen at a pub with some ladies in the background. It is reported to have captured the night before his mixed doubles exit.

“Nick Kyrgios was spotted at a CBD club in the early hours of Monday before getting bundled out of his mixed doubles match on Monday afternoon,” the caption read.

It is never a healthy way to approach a Grand Slam match by partying the whole night before the game. If the said reports are true, it raises serious question against Kyrgios’ mindset and level of competitiveness and hunger at this stage of his career.

Nick Kyrgios’ Real Aim Is No Longer To Win Grand Slam

Nick Kyrgios is incredibly talented when he wants to, but over the last three years, his motivation has dried up. The last time he looked the most competitive was in 2022, the same year he came eerily closer to winning a Grand Slam before Novak Djokovic took his dream away.

Since then, he has undergone wrist and knee surgeries, and his constant injuries have impacted his presence on the court. Kyrgios knows that he is no longer the man who could threaten the top stars in a Grand Slam or a Masters event, as he told News Corp:

“I’ve had a rough couple of years, going from knocking on the door of a Grand Slam, then having it taken away. Reality hits, and you start asking: am I ever going to compete for a singles major again?”

However, he has no regrets over how his career has panned out.

“I’ve had more luck and success than 95% of anyone who’s ever picked up a racquet,” he said. “Injuries are part of sport. It’s not gone… it just is what it is.”

Other than that, the real motivation for the Australian star is now to earn as much money as possible.

“I just don’t think there’s any need for it,” he added. “My motivation right now is to make as much money as possible.”

This reaction says a lot about Kyrgios and how he sees his career ahead.
