Fans quickly took to social media to react to Iga Swiatek’s emphatic win, with one Reddit user writing:
“I have seen enough. 2022 1ga is back and SHE WILL BE WINNING RG. If she doesn’t, I will fire up a M-80 quarter stick up my b**thole and upload the video here, you can count on that.”
“I thought Iga would win comfortably, I didn’t expect it to be this dominant Pegula has been the 3rd best player in the past half year, it doesn’t matter the surface, this is VERY impressive by Iga,” another wrote.
“Jazda! It was only a matter of time before Iga started finding her footing on clay. She needed matches and time to rebuild her confidence. Things are starting to fall I to place for the 4-time FO champ!” one user posted.

“Not Pegula’s best day but @iga_swiatek looks like she is rediscovering top form. So much calmer, confident and playing with a lot of margin for error. Ominous signs for everyone else,” ONE FAN COMMENTED.
“With the way she is playing its looking scary for anyone heading into garros. Its looks like her swaga and mojo is back. We might get the old Swiatek back,” ANOTHER JOINED IN.
Iga Swiatek Makes Her Feelings Clear After Defeating Jessica Pegula In Italian Open QF
Iga Swiatek credited her recent training block as the key factor behind her dominant win over Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open. Speaking to Sky Sports, she highlighted how the work done over the past few weeks has helped her find her rhythm again.
Swiatek said:
“The stuff that we did [in training] for the last weeks helped a lot. Much better and confidence on my shots, so I was using that from the beginning of the match today, putting pressure on Jessie, so I’m really happy with the way I played.”
“I mean, honestly it’s impossible not to know who’s left in the tournament, so obviously I know. I’ll prepare the same way as before any match. I’ll see maybe a little bit of today’s match but most of the information will come from my coach, so yeah, we’ll prepare and I’ll be ready for tomorrow,” she added.
Iga Swiatek will now gear up for a semifinal showdown against either Elena Rybakina or Elina Svitolina. Meanwhile, Jessica Pegula will shift her focus to the upcoming French Open.
