Carlos Alcaraz recently took part in a photoshoot for Vanity Fair ahead of the clay season. The photoshoot sparked debate among fans, with many pointing out a perceived double standard, claiming that players like Emma Raducanu would face criticism for doing something similar.

Alcaraz is currently sidelined with a wrist injury he picked up during the Barcelona Open, which has ruled him out of both the Italian Open and the upcoming French Open. Vanity Fair, which labeled him a “sex symbol” in their feature, revealed that the shoot took place a day before his opening match at the Miami Open earlier this year.

During the interview, Carlos Alcaraz said:

“I know I’m living a dream life, a life I dreamed of. But I sometimes wish I could have more moments for myself, to do things a 22-year-old guy would do. I’m aware that I have so much ahead of me, and I try not to think that I have 12 or 15 years left of my career because I get overwhelmed.”

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to Alcaraz’s photoshoot and comments, with one user bringing up Emma Raducanu as a comparison, writing:

“Emma Raducanu would get burned at a stake for saying these things and doing such a shoot.”

“It’s clear that he doesn’t really love tennis, his mind is always on something else,” another wrote.

“Someone tell him that almost nobody at 22 years old goes on vacation on their yacht and parties in Ibiza,” one user posted.

“We”ll see how far Alcaraz’s career goes; it depends on him and what he wants to be,” another tweeted.

“I can easily see him doing an Ash Barty and quitting tennis in a few years (or sooner). He doesn’t enjoy the pressure and expectations and it causes these regular dips in his performance, unlike Sinner. I’m a giant fan but I can see it happening,” one fan commented.

“And to be fair pretty sure any wta player would be crucified for doing this shoot,” another joined in.

Emma Raducanu’s Comeback Tournament Confirmed As Carlos Alcaraz Prepares To Skip French Open

Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed that he will miss the French Open this year, meaning he won’t be able to defend his title due to an ongoing wrist injury. Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu, who has been dealing with a post-viral illness since her third-round loss to Amanda Anisimova at Indian Wells, is close to returning to action.

Raducanu withdrew from the Italian Open last week; however, she is set to make her comeback at the Strasbourg Open after receiving a wildcard entry. Due to her limited match play this season, the Brit is expected to be unseeded at Roland Garros.
