Morgan Riddle has responded to online criticism after fans made fat-shaming comments and speculated that she was pregnant.
Riddle, who has become a prominent social media personality in recent years, is well known for documenting life on the tennis tour alongside her boyfriend, American player Taylor Fritz.
A household influencer and social media personality, Riddle has featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and the New York Times’ Style section.
On Monday, Riddle addressed the comments on her Instagram, pushing back against claims that she was pregnant and even suggestions about the baby’s gender.
“God forbid a girl has organs,” she clapped back at her fans.
This is not the first time Morgan Riddle has publicly responded to online criticism.
During the 2023 French Open, Riddle addressed backlash from fans who accused her of being overdressed while sitting in the players’ box. She shared screenshots of repeated online abuse from one fan and responded bluntly.
“It’s my fckn party,” she said.
Riddle has also faced criticism over claims that she has leveraged her relationship with Fritz to build her career. She addressed those accusations during an appearance on Olivia Molly Rogers’ Tell Me More podcast in May last year.
“People say that I am capitalizing off of his career,” Riddle said. “And I’m like, ‘Yep, you know what? I am.’ And he’s okay with that. And I’m okay with that because, you know, it’s—it’s a partnership.”
The clip quickly went viral, prompting backlash from hundreds of tennis fans who took issue with her frank admission. Others, however, defended Riddle, saying she should not be criticised for making the most of her circumstances.
Riddle has collaborated with Wimbledon, the US Open, and several tennis-related brands on social media campaigns. She has 606,500 followers on TikTok and 481,000 on Instagram.
Riddle and Fritz have been dating since 2020, after she “swiped him on Raya,” a private, membership-based dating app, during the pandemic.
Fritz Set to Open Australian Open Campaign Against Valentin Royer
Fritz is set to begin his Australian Open campaign against France’s Valentin Royer on Tuesday.
The American featured for the United States at this year’s United Cup, where he won one of his four singles matches as the team exited in the semifinals. Fritz suffered defeats to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sebastian Baez, and Hubert Hurkacz, but secured a tight three-set win over Jaume Munar.
Royer arrives in Melbourne after early exits in his warm-up events. He lost in the opening rounds of both the Hong Kong Open and the Adelaide International.
The match will mark the first career meeting between Fritz and Royer on the ATP Tour.
Their encounter is scheduled as the opening match of the night session on John Cain Arena and is set to begin at 5 p.m. local time.
