Emma Raducanu Receives Scathing Criticism From Boris Becker After Reaching Transylvania Open SF

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has reached the semifinals of the 2026 Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, after a straight-sets win over Poland’s Maja Chwalinska (6-0, 6-4). She will face Ukraine’s Oleksandra Oliynykova in the semifinal.

This was reportedly her only fifth career semifinal at WTA tour-level events. Previously, she reached this stage at the US Open 2021, the Seoul 2022, the Nottingham 2024, and the Washington 2025 tournaments. Moreover, if she’s able to defeat Oliynykova in the semifinal, it would be her first WTA final since winning the 2021 US Open.

Tennis legend Boris Becker took a swipe at the British star after learning this update. He wrote on X:

    “That’s it?”

It was a sarcastic response by the German legend.

Raducanu was defeated in the second round at the Australian Open by Anastasia Potapova. The Brit said she’ll reevaluate herself after early Grand Slam exit.

“Just one of those days you don’t feel too good on the court,” the 23-year-old said. “I don’t want to give myself too much of a hard time because I know my preparation is going into this tournament. I kind of have to leave with my head held high because of the matches I’ve had here.”

Raducanu said that after the early exit, instead of going back to the practice court, she’ll process the loss at home and “reevaluate” her game.

She has also recently split with coach Francisco Roig.

Emma Raducanu’s Ideal Mixed Doubles Partner is 20-time Grand Slam Champion

Emma Raducanu paired with World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz to enter the mixed doubles draw at the 2025 US Open. However, the pair suffered a defeat in the first round at the hands of Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula.

Recently, during her Q&A with fans on the Transylvania Open’s social media, Raducanu was asked to reveal her ideal mixed doubles partner and she could pick anyone from history. The Brit picked:

    “Probably Roger Federer.”

Raducanu’s reply isn’t surprising as the Swiss legend is a beloved figure in tennis and has won 20 Grand Slam titles. Federer was recently seen at the Australian Open where he took part in exhibition matches.
