“Daniil Medvedev Should Be Ashamed” – Fans Brutally Criticize Russian After Humiliating Monte-Carlo Masters 2R Loss

Daniil Medvedev’s Monte-Carlo Masters campaign ended after a heartbreaking loss to Matteo Berrettini. Fans online have slammed the Russian player for the humiliating loss and his on-court behavior.

After suffering an early loss at the Miami Open, Medvedev commenced his Miami Open campaign on Wednesday. He received a first-round bye and played the Round of 32, where he locked horns with Italy’s Berrettini. In this clash, the World No. 10 faced an embarrassing loss to the World No. 90, as the score read 6-0, 6-0.

Berrettini took just 25 minutes to win the first set against the Russian. After trailing 0-2 in the second set, Medvedev lost control of his emotions and repeatedly smashed his racket, making it one of his worst meltdowns. This loss garnered harsh criticism from fans on social media. One of the users on X called it a ‘shameful performance,’ writing:

“What a shameful performance from Medvedev. The crowd should demand refund.”

Another user called it ‘ridiculous,’ commenting:

“That is ridiculous, it’s under 12 level stuff. Medvedev should be ashamed.”

    One of the fans wrote:

    “Meddy is a fraud.”

Trolling the racket smashing, another follower wrote:

“Has anyone checked on Medvedev’s racquet? The poor thing has a family.”

Daniil Medvedev opened up about making a comeback to the clay court

After his early exit at the Miami Open, Daniil Medvedev sat for a conversation with the ATP Tour, where he spoke about returning to clay after 10 months. His previous appearance on the surface came at the 2025 French Open, where he suffered a first-round exit. Opening up about making a comeback to the clay court, he said that it was not easy for him to change surfaces.

Saying he doesn’t feel ‘natural’ on the clay, he said:

“For me, it’s not super easy to change surfaces, so I would prefer to have some time. Of course, I’d prefer to be playing in the final of Miami, but if you lose early, at least you have time to prepare for clay physically. That’s important for me as I don’t feel natural on clay.”

    He added:

“All [surface transitions] are tough, even going from grass to hard. But what makes it tougher to come to clay is that from the beginning of the US summer last season to the end of Miami, you’ve been on hard courts, and that’s a lot of time. Your body and mind… I start feeling like a hard court, and you have to change that.”

Daniil Medvedev opened his season with a bang at the Brisbane International, winning the title after claiming a 6-2, 7-6(1) win against Brandon Nakashima.
