Danielle Collins recently made a candid and light-hearted personal revelation, sharing which players she finds the “hottest” on the ATP Tour. Interestingly, the two names she mentioned both happen to be Italian.
Collins is currently spending time away from the WTA Tour while working as a guest analyst and commentator for the Tennis Channel. Because of this break, she will miss the Australian Open, after confirming that she recently underwent an egg-freezing procedure.
The American recently sat down with Brad Gilbert and CoCo Vandeweghe for the second episode of Tennis Channel’s Big T podcast. During the chat, she revealed that Lorenzo Musetti and Fabio Fognini are the two players she finds the “hottest” on tour. The conversation was sparked when Gilbert mentioned coach José Perlas, who currently works with Musetti and previously coached Fognini.
“Musetti brought on the veteran coach Jose Perlas, a Spanish guy, who used to coach Fognini for about ten years. Now he is joining the Musetti team,” Gilbert said.
“So, wait, he works with Musetti and Fognini? Like two of the hottest guys on Tour?” Collins replied.
Danielle Collins, Brad Gilbert & CoCo Vandeweghe Crack Up Over ‘Embarrassing’ Fabio Fognini Memory
From there, Danielle Collins, Brad Gilbert, and CoCo Vandeweghe kept the conversation going, with Vandeweghe recalling one of her “embarrassing” memories involving Fabio Fognini. The story left all of them in stitches.
Vandeweghe, who is now retired, admitted that during her playing days, she was once warming up at a tournament where Fognini was also competing. She noticed someone from his team and thought he was very “hot,” only to later realize that it was actually the Italian’s brother-in-law.
“Embarrassed the living daylights out of me,” Vandeweghe said. “I was getting warmed up and was like, ‘Craig, there’s this really hot guy right there. He is like shirtless with Fognini. They are both shirtless. I don’t know who he is. Do you know who he is?.’ He is like, ‘I will find out.’ He goes over and he’s like, ‘Yo Fabio, Coco thinks your friend is hot and he goes, ‘That’s my brother-in-law. He is married to my sister’ and I was like, ‘Oh Jesus Christ!'”
For now, Brad Gilbert, Danielle Collins, and CoCo Vandeweghe will turn their attention to the Australian Open, with main-draw action set to begin on Sunday, January 18. Jannik Sinner headlines the men’s draw as the top seed, while Aryna Sabalenka leads the women’s field.
