Coco Gauff’s Ex-Coach Explains Clearly Why Jannik Sinner Should Not Skip Next Tournament In Rome Even If Fatigued

Coco Gauff’s ex-coach, Brad Gilbert, made his thoughts clear on whether Jannik Sinner should participate in the Italian Open. The tournament in Rome is just a couple of weeks before Roland Garros.

A thought was floated on X by tennis reporter Jose Moron, suggesting that Sinner avoid going to Rome altogether. Moron said Sinner should avoid any choices of injury as there is a good chance of winning the French Open in the absence of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

“Yo, if I were Sinner, I wouldn’t go to Rome,” Moron wrote. “The chance he has to win Roland Garros is unique. Nobody knows what’ll happen next year, but this year he’s got it in the bag. His body is now his biggest rival heading into Paris. I wouldn’t take risks.”

Under the comments section, Gilbert explains why Sinner should not avoid going to Rome.

“So how does not playing Rome change that, nothing by the way is in the bag 💼 best to be active in Rome few days off afterwards then be ready for Paris,” Gilbert wrote.

Noting the little time difference, Sinner would enjoy before he turns up for the French Open, Sinner was asked to take a cautious approach by a fan.

“Brad I don’t think he should play Rome,” the fan said. “He needs that time off to rejuvenate. If e plays Rome and win he only has 6 days to rest. That’s not enough especially silly going into best of 5 on the clay.”

    Gilbert asked in reply:

“how do you know that is the right call ☎️ not to mention he is italian Rome very important event”

Gilbert believes Sinner should play in Rome because it’s a home tournament and he will be confident heading into Roland Garros knowing a big clay title was won.
