At the 2025 French Open, Gauff clinched her second singles Slam title after coming back from a set down against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. In the aftermath of her sensational victory at Roland Garros, the 21-year-old sat down for an interview with Today. Here, she recalled how her parents gave up their ‘dream house’ in Atlanta to give her the best chance of pursuing a professional tennis-playing career by moving to Florida. Gauff said:

“We realized that Florida was the place to be for tennis. And so we moved from Atlanta to Florida. They had a dream house or their dream house. And for them to move, and we stayed with my grandmother and her house for about six, seven months before we were able to get our own place.”

In the same interview, she went on to remember how some of her relatives failed to understand the move from Atlanta to Florida. According to Gauff, her mother Candi firmly stood by her and her husband Corey’s decision. She added:
