Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton & Jessica Pegula Lead American Stars in Epic Night Out Before Italian Open Main Draw

Several American tennis players, including Coco Gauff, Ben Shelton and Jessica Pegula, took to the streets of Rome, Italy, at night for a fun bonding experience. The outing was organized by the hosts of The Player’s Box podcast, including Madison Keys, Pegula, and Desirae Krawczyk, in Fiordiluna, located in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome.

Many of them can be seen holding ice cream, as most were involved in a “gelato-tasting adventure.” Late-night gelato is a tradition that many players embrace while in Rome.

Coco Gauff is in the center, wearing a purple jacket over a white shirt. Keys is to the left of Gauff, wearing a black leather jacket over a white top. Frances Tiafoe is on the far right, wearing a black varsity-style jacket and sunglasses. Pegula is behind Gauff, wearing glasses and a dark shirt. Just left of Pegula is Iva Jovic with all smiles.

Alycia Parks is to the right of Gauff, wearing a black top. Asia Muhammad is standing next to Parks behind Tiafoe, wearing a white shirt. Krawczyk is standing behind Keys, wearing a dark blue button-down shirt. Hailey Baptiste is standing far left, wearing a tan jacket. Caty McNally is in the back right, wearing a black top. Tommy Paul is in the back row, wearing an olive green sweater. Emma Navarro is standing next to Paul, wearing a black top.

Coco Gauff, Frances Tiafoe and Other Rate Late-Night Gelato Flavors

The Players’ Box podcast also prepared a video where American players tasted gelato and gave their ratings. Jessica Pegula, who tasted coffee flavor, gave it a 3.8 rating out of 5. Meanwhile, Desirae Krawczyk, who had the combination of the mango, lemon, and strawberry flavors, gave it a 3.9 rating.

This is how the rest of the players sampled the gelato and rated:

“Hello, okay, chocolate, hazelnut, high ratings. 4.3 for chocolate, very rich, and 4.0 flat for hazelnut. Overall, very high, very good,” Iva Jovic said.

“I got coffee and pistachio. The coffee I think is like a four, actually no, coffee I’ll give 4.5, pistachio I’ll give like 3.8,” Coco Gauff said.

“I have tiramisu. I give this a 3.2. I need a little more coffee in it. Okay, and then I have nociola, hazelnut. I give this a 4.3,” Asia Muhammad said.

“I had the stracciatella. It’s gone now. I give that a 3.4, and then I got the hazelnut, and I will give that a 3.8,” Caty McNally said.

“Five, I’m gonna go five (for stracciatella),” Frances Tiafoe said.

“I get yogurt. I get yogurt every time. It might be weird, but that’s what I like,” Hailey Baptiste said. “It’s not a good yogurt, I’m gonna be honest. It’s like a three. Because, I mean, it’s like a three. Because it doesn’t really taste like yogurt. It just tastes like sweet vanilla or something.”

“I got Nocciola. It’s like hazelnut, it tastes like Nutella. And I like Nutella,” Ben Shelton said. “Four out of five.”

“I got lemon and raspberry. Four out of five,” Madison Keys said.

This fun exercise allowed USA teammates to get to know each other better while on the away tour.
