“Carlos Alcaraz Is Bored” – Serena Williams’ Ex-Coach Sends Warning To Spaniard About Looming ‘Danger’ After Miami Open Loss

Carlos Alcaraz suffered a shocking third-round loss to Sebastian Korda at the Miami Open, and Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou might have the exact explanation for why the Spaniard lost so early in the Masters 1000 event.

Mouratoglou’s analysis came in his latest Instagram post on Monday. He believes Alcaraz might be “bored” at the moment after achieving so much success on tour, including his title-winning run at the Australian Open earlier this year. He also warned that such a mindset could prove dangerous for the Spaniard moving forward.

“My feeling is that Alcaraz is bored. The guy already has seven Grand Slams, and I feel like playing Masters 1000; he won so many already, he’s not that interested. That’s really a feeling that I have. I also feel that that will be the danger for him in the next few years,” Mouratoglou said.

“And you know, a lot of people say that, oh, this year in Roland Garros or Wimbledon or US Open, he doesn’t play well in the first rounds. Yeah, he doesn’t play well because he’s bored. He has so much margin. When the match is too easy, he’s losing his focus because deep inside he knows he can break back anytime,” he added.

“So, maybe it’s not conscious, he doesn’t think, oh, I don’t care. But it’s accepting to be broken, accepting to lose his focus. So that’s a danger for him,” the Frenchman concluded.

Previously in the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, Alcaraz lost to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal, making that his first loss of the year. The Spaniard, who made a grand start to the 2026 calendar year by winning the Australian Open and then claiming the ATP 500 title in Doha, had a trophyless run in the Sunshine Swing.

Carlos Alcaraz Feels He Is On The Right Track Despite Shocking Miami Open Exit

After the loss to Sebastian Korda, Carlos Alcaraz addressed the media in a post-match press conference, where he reiterated that he felt good and trusted the process his camp has been enforcing during training sessions.

“Obviously, when you’re winning tournaments, and you have a great record win/lose, everything is easier in terms of pressure on the opponents. I feel they have more to gain than to lose in those matches … they’re playing without pressure. I’m not thinking about my pressure,” Alcaraz said.

“I’m trying to play my best. I would say that what I was practicing, I think I just did it really well. A couple of things in previous tournaments that I just didn’t feel comfortable with, I think in this tournament, I started to feel better and better. I think the process has been good. Besides the loss today, I think I’m still on the right track,” he added.

Alcaraz will now headline a star-studded lineup at the Monte-Carlo Masters to kick off the proceedings for the clay-court swing, starting on April 5.
