Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, shared a funny thought in a social media post after Shelton’s round-of-16 win at the Dallas Open. The moment came during the 23-year-old’s on-court postgame interview on center court after beating Adrian Mannarino in three grueling sets on Thursday night.
Towards the end of the interview, the presenter directed Shelton’s attention to a particular moment when Rodman made her USWNT coach, Emma Hayes, dance after scoring the final goal against Chile in their January 28 international friendly. Continuing on those lines, the presenter asked Shelton whether Rodman inspired him and whether a similar scenario could happen with his coach/dad (Bryan Shelton).
With a smile on his face, Shelton replied, “I think there is a better chance of a lot of things in life. I think this is one thing that will never happen. So, not something I will even ask.” Rodman was quick response and accepted the challenge.
“Get Ben’s dad to do a dance. Challenge accepted @benshelton,” Rodman wrote in her Instagram story. Shelton immediately shared a reply on his Instagram story, writing, “😭 Stop pressuring me @trinity_rodman @emmahayes1.”

Shelton is currently aiming to redeem himself for a poor run at the Australian swing in the Dallas Open. He is playing Miomir Kecmanovic in the quarterfinals on Friday night in an attempt to advance to the semifinals and target his maiden silverware of the season.
Ben Shelton Called His Match Against Mannarino ‘Ridiculous Tennis’
After a challenging match against Mannarino, in which the Frenchman pushed Shelton to the limit, the 23-year-old American called the game ‘ridiculous tennis’ in the on-court interview.
“Ridiculous tennis. I thought [Adrian] played at an extremely high level. I think he always does against me. We’ve had some crazy matches. In my last match, I got injured against him at the US Open. A big battle for sure. He does a lot of things that make it very, very difficult. Especially playing him on a low-bouncing indoor court,” Shelton said.
After Dallas, Shelton is scheduled to play the Mexican Open in Acapulco before headlining the first Masters 1000 event of the season on home soil at Indian Wells.
