Tennis legend Chris Evert reacted to the “Big T” podcast panelists Danielle Collins and Coco Vandeweghe’s discussion about coaches, while taking a sly dig at Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert.
During the discussion about their specific pet peeves, Collins went with the massive egos of tennis coaches who try to take credit for players’ wins.
“One of my pet peeves, I think the coaches are getting way too big egos, and they don’t know what to do with themselves,” Collins said.
Vandewghe immediately interjected to agree with Collins and added her own opinion.
“It’s the player that’s playing, the player’s gonna win, the player’s gonna lose. Coach gets way too much credit and too much notoriety. I couldn’t care less about a coach. Sorry, coach BG, like you didn’t take the racket and execute the forehand or the backhand,” Vandeweghe said.
Collins added:
“I’m with you, Coco. I think these coaches have way too big egos. I’m sick of the Instagram posts and social media posts where these coaches refer to the players’ result or win as a we experience.”
At this point, a sorry-looking Gilbert, who understood that the players were playfully ganging up on him, said, “Ouch, I feel like I’m getting darts at me.” Evert took a shine to this funny segment from the podcast and jumped on the comments section, writing:
“WOW… poor Brad! But I kinda agree!😂😂😂.”

While Evert enjoyed the friendly banter targeting Gilbert on the podcast, she often voices her opinion on topics besides tennis.
Chris Evert Applauds Lindsey Vonn’s Fearlessness Post Crash at Winter Games
One of the best alpine skiers, Lindsey Vonn’s dream of competing at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games came to a dreadful end after she crashed in the opening run, resulting in multiple tibial fractures and adding to an already torn ACL on her left knee. Despite a harrowing end to her run at the Winter Games, Von showed no remorse for her decisions and vowed to continue striving for glory.
“Yesterday, my Olympic dream did not end the way I had imagined… It was not a fairy-tale ending; it was not a dream story; it was life. I dared to dream, and I worked hard to make it happen… Although yesterday didn’t end the way I had hoped, and despite the intense physical pain, I have no regrets,” Vonn wrote in her Instagram post.
Evert was quick to respond. She shared a social media post on X applauding Vonn’s grit and fearlessness.
“Undoubtedly, one of the most fearless human beings I have ever met…💪🏼💪🏼💃❤️” Evert wrote on X.
Evert is an 18-time Grand Slam champion and understands what it takes to be a champion and have the courage to fight against all odds, never giving up on your dream.
