“Outrageously Wrong” – Amanda Anisimova & Victoria Mboko Fans Furious As Alexandra Eala & Joao Fonseca Get Indian Wells Priority

Amanda Anisimova and Victoria Mboko, the current World No. 6 and No. 10 respectively in women’s singles tennis, are set to lock horns in the fourth round of the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. However, Anisimova and Mboko’s high-profile evening session match on Tuesday, March 10, will not take place on Indian Wells Tennis Garden’s Stadium Court 1, the venue’s biggest and most iconic court. Instead, Stadium Court 2 will host the high-profile encounter.

Meanwhile, in the same evening session, Court 1’s matches will feature Joao Fonseca locking horns with Jannik Sinner, followed by Alexandra Eala squaring off against Linda Noskova. This scheduling left several fans of Anisimova and Mboko furious. Many opined that the decision to prioritize Fonseca and Eala’s matches on Court 1 is rooted in the tournament wanting to make money off of the young Brazilian ATP star and Filipina WTA icon’s soaring popularity and isn’t merited.

    One fan wrote:

    “This schedule is outrageously wrong”

    Another commented:

“Sorry Eala Noskova on Stadium 1 over Mboko Anisimova is CRAZYYYYY”

    Another fan chimed in:

“Shame that the very clear match of the day is going to be played in front of a 800-person Stadium 2 night crowd :(“

    One opined:

“Most overrated player on the planet on Stadium 1 (referring to Fonseca) over the American who made consecutive Slam Finals last year (Referring to Anisimova) is legitimately insane from an American 1000 level tournament”

    Another added:

“Should’ve put Vicky (Mboko) and Amanda on Stadium 1 and maybe move one of the ATP morning matches to their slot at S2. Sad”

    Yet another fan weighed in:

“#6 and #10 women doesn’t deserve #1 court but #14 and #31 women do, nice job Indian Wells”

Amanda Anisimova & Victoria Mboko To Face Each Other For The First Time At BNP Paribas Open 2026 In Indian Wells

Anisimova and Mboko will be playing their maiden competitive encounter in the fourth round of women’s singles matches at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. It is set to be an interesting matchup, with the American known for being one of the most powerful hitters in contemporary women’s tennis and the Canadian widely regarded for her defensive and counterpunching abilities.

So far at the tournament, Anisimova has dispatched Anna Blinkova and Emma Raducanu. The American’s 6-1, 6-1 victory over Raducanu was particularly impressive, as her relentless pressure led to the Brit winning only 21 points in the entirety of the contest. Meanwhile, Mboko has so far dispatched Kimberly Birrell and Anna Kalinskaya.

The winner of the match between Anisimova and Mboko will go on to face either reigning World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka or former No. 1 Naomi Osaka in the quarterfinals.
