Following her appearances in the round of 16 at the Sunshine Double, Amanda Anisimova announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Charleston Open on Saturday afternoon. The American tennis player was slated to enter the WTA 500 tournament as the second seed.
The World No. 6 would have competed in the tournament behind the defending champion and top-seeded Jessica Pegula. In the Sunshine Double, her run came to a conclusion after she fell short against Victoria Mboko and Belinda Bencic at the Indian Wells and Miami Open, respectively. Following this, she also parted ways with coach Hendrik Vleeshouwers.
Later, she pulled out of the 2026 Credit One Charleston Open, citing an injury she picked up in Florida. However, the 24-year-old hasn’t disclosed the specifics of the injury. In a statement, she expressed her gratitude to fans while expressing her love for playing at Charleston.
Anisimova had earlier reached the semifinal round of the Charleston Open in 2022 and 2025. She hasn’t lifted any title so far in 2026 and has come down from World No.3 to 6 after a singles record of 11-6. The tournament will kick off on Monday, March 30, with the final round for singles slated on Sunday, April 5.
