Amanda Anisimova’s tennis career peaked in 2025, ascending in rankings and reaching two Grand Slam finals last season. However, she has looked like a shadow of her dominant self this season.
On Monday, Anisimova’s stint in the 2026 Miami Open came to an end at the hands of World No. 12 and 2022 semifinalist Belinda Bencic. It’s not only the loss but also the kind of losses the American pro is suffering. Bencic defeated her in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, as she broke Anisimova’s serve several times. Meanwhile, Anisimova couldn’t even break her opponent’s serve even once in the match.
Fans reacted to another lopsided loss of Anisimova as they called out pundits who predicted the American to do even better from her 2025 season.
“Yea Amanda is winning 5 of the 4 slams this year like her fans predicted,” one fan wrote.
“Talentless brainless bashing b*m OUT,” one fan added.
“Remember that short stretch where Amanda Anisimova was giving all her opponents straight belt to a**? Yeah she looks unrecognizable the past couple months,” one fan wrote.
“This may be the worst and most embarrassing beat down Amanda Anisimova has taken in her professional care- oh wait there’s the Wimbledon final. Jesus Christ this woman fucking sucks,” one fan added.
“This has been the most pathetic display of tennis ever from Amanda Anisimova who is literally home in Miami,” one fan added.
“absolutely awful sunshine double from amanda,” one fan wrote.
“Need a mental reset. She should withdraw from Charleston, rest and reset her mental health,” one fan added.
Amanda Anisimova’s Struggling 2026 Season Start
Amanda Anisimova qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time last year. However, there has been an intense drop off since the start of the year. She began the year with the Brisbane International, where she was defeated by Marta Kostyuk in straight sets. In the Australian Open, Anisimova suffered another straight-set defeat against fellow American star Jessica Pegula.
Moving on to the Middle East swing, Anisimova suffered a Round of 32 exit in Doha against Karolina Pliskova, followed by a semi-final loss against Pegula at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Returning to the States, Anisimova’s fortunes didn’t change as she suffered a Round of 16 exit against Victoria Mboko at the Indian Wells Masters. With the loss in the Miami Open, Anisimova will hope to work on her gameplay before the clay season begins with the Charleston Open.
