Ryan Williams exploded in college football as a true freshman in the 2024 season with the Alabama Crimson Tide. However, the wide receiver had a slightly poor season in 2025.
Williams played 14 games last season, catching 49 receptions for 689 yards and four touchdowns. He was targeted 77 times. He also rushed for 21 yards on two carries. Moreover, he returned two punts for 25 yards.
It was a step down for Williams from his true freshman season, where he registered almost a similar number of receptions. In 2024, he caught 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. There is a difference of almost 200 yards for nearly the same receptions.
Another noticeable factor from Williams’ 2025 season was his drops. He led FBS in drops during the season. He dropped 13 catches this season, far higher than four drops he recorded in his first season.
Despite the ups and downs, Williams remained a key part of Alabama’s passing attack and was the second-leading receiver in many games. Moreover, he has already expressed his intention to return to Alabama for the 2026 season.
“Of course. I’m Alabama through and through. I have no intentions of being anywhere else,” he said via Crimson Tide beat reporter Nick Kelly.
Ryan Williams Reflects On His 2025 Season
Ryan Williams had a major stepdown in the 2025 season. The Crimson Tide wide receiver is considering the subpar 2025 season as a learning experience.
“Going through this season and having a high like (the 2024 Georgia game), it allows you to understand that’s not a normal thing,” Williams said. “It allows me to learn through any experience. It just makes it easier whenever I am going through a high or what y’all consider a low. It’s just easier for me to go through because I understand every day isn’t going to be a perfect day. You’ve just got to enjoy what’s in front of you.”
“Gave me a lot of chances to look myself in the mirror,” Williams added. “Enjoy being around the guys, being the best version of me I can be whether I’m having a great performance or it doesn’t go my way. It really showed me this year it’s the ultimate team sport and just try to focus on doing my 1/11 for the squad.”
Williams has grown mature enough to understand that it’s not always going to be sunshine and eyebrows.
