Ryan Williams joined the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2024 as a five-star recruit. He came in at a time when Kalen DeBoer had just taken over after what fans consider a golden era in Alabama football under Nick Saban.
Saban was the head coach of the program from 2007 to 2023. Williams, a star wide receiver, became a starter in his first season and put up impressive numbers. Although the program was in the rebuilding phase, Williams made a great first impression.
He finished his freshman season with 48 receptions for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams made Freshman All-American and First-team All-SEC in 2024. In his second season, Williams finished with 49 receptions for 689 yards and four touchdowns.
Alabama wasn’t the title contender in people’s opinion, but they still had a better run than many people expected. Since the conclusion of the season, Williams has been in vacation mode with his fiancée Alexis.
Recently, Alexis posted pictures and videos from their trip to Mexico. They’ve been to several places so far and have attended concerts together. Last month, they went to a Morgan Wallen concert.
The 19-year-old still has a lot of work to do on his game. He is considered to be one of the best WRs in his class and has a lot of potential to be a world-class receiver. Williams is also carrying the expectations of the Crimson Tide fans who believe their team will be able to turn things around next season.
It’s good for Williams that he’s taking the offseason time to enjoy and relax before he gets into preparation mode for the next season.
Kalen DeBoer on EJ Crowell
EJ Crowell is a 5-star running back from Jackson, Alabama, who signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide as a key member of their 2026 recruiting class. Although Crowell is already dealing with injuries, he is expected to play a huge role for Alabama next season.
He is expected to be game-ready in June, and DeBoer believes that he’ll be able to bounce back from the minor setback.
“He’s also been a part of walk-throughs, position meetings. He’s still in the weight room lifting. He’s around his teammates. So there has been an easing in,” he said. “When he’s healthy, he’s got to get incorporated full-fledged with some urgency with as much as he can handle, and be a part of a running back corps, and go compete for that playing time to help us be at our best.”
DeBoer said that Crowell is hard-working and humble, which makes him a perfect fit for the Alabama football culture.
