Simone Biles recently dropped a sweet reaction to Cecile Landi being named as the head coach of the Georgia Gymnastics team on Tuesday. Biles and Landi worked together for almost seven years from late 2017 to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After working with Biles, Landi joined the Georgia Gymnastics team, where she worked as the co-head coach. After two years of serving in this role, the director of athletics, Josh Brooks, recently announced her as the head coach of the Georgia gymnastics program.
Before this, she worked with Ryan Roberts, who was the former head coach of the program and has now stepped into the new role of head coach at Auburn Gymnastics.
Announcing Landi as the head coach, Brooks lauded her work and her significance in the program, saying:
“We are thrilled to announce Cécile Canqueteau-Landi as the head coach of Georgia gymnastics. Cécile has done a tremendous job leading our program back to national prominence, and we are excited about the next chapter of Georgia gymnastics under her continued leadership.
“We are also so happy for Ryan Roberts, who is very deserving of this opportunity.”
This news was shared by USA Gymnastics on Instagram, which caught the attention of Biles, who dropped kind words on her Instagram story for her former coach. Exuding excitement on Landi’s new role, she wrote:
“If you can dream it, she can do it!! CONGRATS @cecilelandi. So excited for you!!! GO GET EM!!”

Biles was recently seen at the Laureus Sports Awards 2026 as the brand ambassador in a cream-colored fringe dress.
When Cecile Landi Opened up About Simone Biles’s Importance in Gymnastics
Cecile Landi once sat for an interview with ESPN in 2021, where she opened up about her bond with Simone Biles and shared the insides of the gymnast’s skills and her way of working. Amid this, she opened up about the gymnast’s importance in the sport. Stating that after Nadia Comaneci changed the gymnastics scene in 1976, Biles did it now.
Opening up about how difficult it will be to witness another gymnast like Biles, she said:
“Simone is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. I hope I am wrong and we get to witness someone else like Simone, but realistically we had Nadia [Comaneci] in ’76, who changed the sport of gymnastics, and now we have Simone. So maybe in 45 years we will see it again?
“I will be quite old then. I try not to think that way and just enjoy working with her and witnessing the hard work and crazy skills she is doing.”
Simone Biles was last seen in action at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she won four medals, including three gold medals and one silver medal.
