Andi Jackson recently reflected on the moment she received her four-year scholarship offer from the Nebraska volleyball team. She shared her memories of this special moment, revealing that she was at the super market when she received the news.
Jackson was last seen in action for the Huskers during the 2026 spring exhibition season, which concluded on April 25 after besting Northern Colorado in Chadron. Following this, she went into her off-season, and amid this, she was selected to train with the women’s national team staff, which also includes participating in showcase exhibition matches. She is highly active in USA Volleyball’s WNT Collegiate training program in Manhattan Beach, California.
Along with this, she is also gearing up for the upcoming 2026 NCAA volleyball season with the Huskers. Amid her thorough training and her ongoing off-season, Jackson sat for a conversation with ‘The Volleyball Mentor,’ where she recalled a phone call she received while she was at the grocery store offering her the Nebraska volleyball scholarship. Sharing the details of this special moment, she said:
“But then I got on my phone call with Nebraska, and I remember talking to coach. It was coach Jalen and Kelly. They were all on the phone call. And I’m nervous and I’m honest with them and I’m like, you guys, you’re my#3 right now. I just had 2 other phone calls, like I really I’m gonna weigh out my options, like, see what’s in my best interest for me, and they’re super understanding of that. And I remember, coach, I’m not expecting to get offered on this phone call. They’ve never even seen me play. And he’s like, We’d like to offer you. And I look at my mom, and I think I turned like white as a ghost. I couldn’t even believe it. I was like, because at this point I had researched Nebraska volleyball, and I’m like, Oh my gosh, like Nebraska just offered me. So I’m thinking like 1 year. I don’t know how scholarships work,” said Andi Jackson.
She added:
“So we get off the phone call, a great phone call, and I remember my mom and I are in the King Super’s parking lot because then we go to get groceries after, and she’s like, Andi, like, can you call them back and ask them what they mean by a scholarship? So I call Jalen and I’m like, ‘Hey, Coach Hayes, like what did you mean by a scholarship?’ And he starts laughing on the phone and he’s like, ‘AJ, like a full ride, like all 4 years,’ and I don’t know, in that moment I was just like this is so insane and this is so real. I’m in the King Super’s parking lot with my mom. We’re about to go get groceries and Nebraska’s on the line offering me a full ride scholarship and I’d only been playing volleyball for 2.5 years. Like it just felt so surreal in that moment.”
Ahead of the spring season, Jackson also competed in the beach volleyball season with the Nebraska volleyball team, which commenced on February 23 against Ottawa and ended on March 21 after their match against Ave Maria.
Andi Jackson opened up about the new mindset to fix past NCAA championships mistakes
Andi Jackson recently competed in the WNT Red-Blue Scrimmage match on May 20, 2026, in Manhattan Beach, California, and following this match, she spoke to Tren Rodriguez from Set Point. During this conversation, they discussed the Nebraska volleyball team’s focus for the 2026 season and opening up about their ‘end goal,’ she said:
“We’re a really special team and we’re going to have a lot of fun this season. There’s a lot of things that we’re trying to clean up and just work towards our end goal, but we want to just stay in the moment. I think we’ve put too much pressure on ourselves, especially these last 3 years when I’ve been here, towards the end. So we’re just really going to try to have fun with it and enjoy it and take advantage of our senior season. I know as seniors have talked about it, and we’re going to put it all out there, and whatever happens happens,” said Andi Jackson.
In the same interview, Andi Jackson also opened up about her experience of playing for the USA Women’s team, stating that it was a ‘huge honor’ for her.
