He revealed that his girlfriend drove him to his spiritual journey when he was at the lowest point of his life. He said that after suffering from a major accident, he fell into depression, and this incident led to his spiritual journey.
“About a year ago when I started going to a church, a non-denominational church with my girlfriend, Molly, and she was a worship leader, and I was always afraid to ask questions growing up about God, and everything because I didn’t wanna like seem dumb. But she’s my best friend, so, and she’s been in church, she’s a worship leader, so I turned to her and I’m like, every Sunday I’d just ask her questions nonstop. And she would tell me and, everything about God, about Jesus, and then we started watching, these people getting baptised, and something came into me like something so pure,” said Ryan Lochte.
He added:
“I asked her, I was like, what is this? She’s like they’re washing away their sins, they’re getting a fresh start publicly and I was like, honey, I want that, and so I got baptised. I washed away my sins, and trust me, I had a lot, And I washed away my sins and it, me going to church and finding that to put your life in front of God and give it to God has changed everything for me. I’m finding who I am.”
