Former Nebraska Volleyball Coach John Cook Reveals How Meritt Beason Joined The Omaha Supernovas
Former Nebraska Volleyball Coach John Cook recently revealed how he pursuaded the former Husker Meritt Beason to join the Omaha Supernovas team in the Major League Volleyball. In an interview with Hurrdat Sports, he revealed that the Supernovas team drafted her while she was playing for the Huskers.
“Personally I wanted to prove to [Merritt Beason] I told her don’t go to Atlanta… She said that, ‘Coach told me don’t go to Atlanta.’ At the time when I was still coaching her, and it was during the NCAA big tournament, Omaha Supernovas were trying to trade to get her to draft at No.1 at the Supernovas. So, they wanted her but I said ‘Hey, tell your agent Supernovas want you to work it and tell me you are not going to go to Atlanta because you ain’t a No.1 pick.’”
