Keegan Bassett Credits “Best Brother” Bo After First PIAA Wrestling Championship Title as Bishop McCort Sophomore

Keegan Bassett recently achieved a major milestone by winning his first state title at the PIAA Wrestling Championships as a Bishop McCort sophomore. After the victory, he made it clear that his success was not his alone and gave a lot of credit to his older brother, Bo Bassett, calling him the ‘best brother.’

The 2026 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Individual State Wrestling Championships commenced on March 5 and concluded on March 7. On the last day of the tournament, Bassett dominated the 121 weight class against Max Dinges with a 4-2 decision.

Last year in the 2025 PIAA Championships, he secured a fourth-place finish in the 107 lbs. Shortly after his first PIAA title as the Bishop McCourt sophomore, he addressed the media, opening up about his impressive victory.

The 17-year-old credited his success to his brother, Bo Bassett, stating that he has learned everything from him and revealing that he has helped him so much in his wrestling career. Calling him the best brother, he said:

“I think, you know, I’m just, you know, I. All my successes from him, you know, I, I learn from him every day. I practise with him at least 4 or 5 times a week, you know, he helps me so much. You know, the strides that I made like against Rock, for instance, he beat me 10 to 3 at Midland Mayhem. Me and Bo have been working on stuff that I need to change in that, you know, I couldn’t thank him enough. He’s truly the best brother in the world, best in the world,” said Keegan Bassett.

Him and my dad, I can go to them with anything. He’s been in the sport for a lot longer than me, so you know, if there’s a position that I don’t know what to do in, I can just ask him, and he’s always got an answer for me,” said Keegan Bassett.
