Isaac Trumble is all set to serve in the Army after graduating from NC State, which has garnered the attention of Wyatt Hendrickson. Trumble recently ended his perfect, undefeated season by nabbing the NCAA Wrestling Championships title.
After defeating Taye Ghadiali in the semifinals of the 285-lbs heavyweight category, Trumble met top seed Yonger Bastida in the final round. The NC State wrestler produced a stunning performance. After a scoreless first period, he earned an escape and a takedown in the second period to claim a 5-0 win.
With this match, he capped his perfect 21-0 season. Days after this, news of him joining the Army in May is making rounds all over the internet. After being a member of NC State’s ROTC program, he is looking to begin his career in the US Army Infantry as a field artillery officer. The wrestling podcast, Baschamania, shared this news on Instagram on Monday, writing:
“Having been a member of NC State’s ROTC program, he will look to begin his career in the U.S. Army Infantry as a field artillery officer. Gotta love & appreciate that! Thank you for your service, Isaac! 🫡🇺🇸.”

Isaac Trumble Made His Feelings Known About His NCAA Championship Victory
After besting Young Bastida in the 285-lbs final of the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, Isaac Trumble addressed the media. He was asked about the first thing that came to his mind when he realized he was the national champion. He highlighted how he was always doubted, before crediting his coaches and his wife’s support in the long journey.
“It’s been a long journey to get here. Kind of been down my entire life, coming from Nebraska. I know that’s something Andrew Taylor and I went to the same club growing up, same high school. I know it’s something we both felt growing up. Just being from Nebraska, we’re always doubted. But yeah, I don’t know what I haven’t really soaked in yet,” said Isaac Trumble.
“But I will say it was incredible to see my teammates there cheering me on and coaches, my wife right next to me. I wouldn’t be able to do without her and my teammates pushing me to be where I am today. Great coaches, great training staff. They’re incredible.”
