Former Nebraska volleyball standout Maisie Boesiger may have finished her collegiate playing career, but her bond with Husker Nation remains as strong as ever. The libero recently reflected on the unique relationship she built with fans and how their support shaped her journey as a student-athlete.
Boesiger officially signed with the Nebraska volleyball team in January 2022, and after delivering staunch performances in her four-year journey with the Huskers, she completed her career with them in 2025. Her last game for the team was on December 14 at the regional finals of the 2025 NCAA championships.
In this showdown, the team met Texas A&M, who claimed a 3-2 victory, marking an end to Nebraska’s perfect season. Boesiger is currently working as the senior defensive specialist for the Nebraska volleyball team.
During her time at Nebraska, she didn’t just produce dominant performances but also became one of the most beloved figures of the Nebraska roster. In a recent conversation with Hail Varsity, she opened up about what it meant to play in front of one of the most passionate fan bases in college sports and how their encouragement extended far beyond the court.
“I’m so thankful for Husker Nation. They have made my whole journey at Nebraska so special, and I’ve just loved being able to post online and, like, reach the community, and I feel like I get people who come up to me at the grocery stores, here and there, and they’re like, “Wow, like, I feel like we’re best friends, but you don’t know me,” so I just think it’s such a special role to have,” said Maisie Boesiger.
Beyond volleyball, Boesiger has recently entered new phase of her personal life. She announced her engagement with her boyfriend, Nolan Schwarting, in 2025 on social media and posted glimpses of this happy news, showcasing the special moment.
Maisie Boesiger revealed how she started taking social media seriously
In a candid conversation with Hail Varsity, Maisie Boesiger was asked about her social media presence and how she started taking it seriously. Opening up about her journey, she revealed that she originally had no intention of becoming active on social platforms.
During the initial days of her volleyball career, creating content simply wasn’t in her comfort zone. Even after arriving in Nebraska, she kept a low profile. Opening up about what boosts her confidence, she said:
“I remember the first time I posted on TikTok; it was back in high school, and my caption was genuinely, “I’m not a TikToker, and this will be the first and last one I ever post,” like I was determined that I was not gonna post on TikTok, so it just wasn’t in my comfort zone. I didn’t think that I ever would, but. I remember my freshman year I posted a few, like maybe 1 or 2 a month, so not much then, but it was about when the stadium game took place my sophomore year when I was really like, “I feel like I could post more on social media,”” said Maisie Boesiger.
All her self-doubt regarding social media changed during one historic moment in Nebraska volleyball. The Huskers’ record-breaking game in front of more than 92000 fans became the turning point of Boesiger’s social media mindset.
“Like first of all, it’s a huge deal we’re playing Memorial Stadium in front of 92,000 fans. Like I feel like I need to be sharing this. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and so that’s when I started sharing things, and I kind of found out that I enjoyed doing it,” she added.
Maisie Boesiger recently opened up about what she misses the most about Nebraska volleyball.
