The Canadiens struggled in the first round against the Tampa Bay Lightning, with the two teams playing all seven games. The Lightning were on the verge of winning the series, but Montreal’s Alex Newhook scored a huge third-period goal to help the team win the series. Following that, they dropped their first game against the Sabres but recovered later.

Tage Thompson praised the Canadiens’ journey, claiming that the team has been amazing. He also mentioned that the club has a large number of goal scorers. Thompson also pointed out that the Sabres have been taking too many risks. According to the NHL’s official website, the center said,

“They’re a skilled team. They’ve got a lot of players who can make plays and score. They don’t need a whole lot to put it in the back of the net. I think we’ve been opening it up a little bit too much, taking a bit too many risks on the rush. Obviously, we like when our ‘D’ are joining and getting involved in the play, but we’ve got to be smart when we do it, pick our times, and the forwards have got to be better when they are in there and tracking back.”

Game 4 presents an excellent opportunity for the Canadiens to practically seal the series with a 3-1 lead, as going in it they will have home ice advantage and plenty of momentum.
