The Buffalo Sabres have made a huge comeback in their series against the Montreal Canadiens. The teams are facing off in Round 2 of the Eastern Conference, and after four thrilling games, the series is deadlocked at 2-2.

The Sabres staged a remarkable comeback in Game 4, breaking the Canadiens’ momentum of two straight wins. The next meeting between the two teams is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, with puck drop at 7 PM ET. Interestingly, the game will be played at the KeyBank Centre, which means Buffalo will have both the home ice advantage and momentum after their last win.

For the fans who are looking forward to watching the game at home, here’s how they can tune in for this encounter:

    • TV Channel: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2
    • Streaming Platforms: DIRECTV, Fubo, ESPN App, Hulu, and Max

Walking into Game 4, the Canadiens had all the momentum from their overwhelming 5-1 Game 2 and 6-2 Game 3 victories. Montreal scored two goals in the first period of the fourth game to grab the lead, but the team was unable to maintain its offensive momentum after that. The Sabres rallied by scoring consecutive goals in the first and second periods, making the third and final periods tough.

Interestingly, Zach Benson gained early momentum at the start of the third period and scored a goal, which eventually helped his team secure the much-needed victory. The Sabres have been in incredible form this season, finishing the regular season at the top of the Atlantic Division.

After smashing the Canadiens’ momentum, Sabres HC Lindy Ruff praised his players, noting that this was the game in which they showed their real colours. Ruff discussed how, so far in Round 2, the squad had lost some of its shape, but they tightened up before this game and eventually captured that win.

According to the NHL’s official website, Ruff stated,

“We were too loose — I thought tonight we tightened things up. We finally got to the place where we need to be. It looked like our team again, from the way we started the game to the way we finished the game.”

Aside from the winning goal, Zach Benson also set several significant records in Game 4. The faceoff occurred on Benson’s 21st birthday, and he became the first Buffalo player in history to score the winning goal on their birthday. Overall, he became the NHL’s 13th player to achieve this interesting feat.

Game 5 will be crucial for both the Sabres and the Canadiens since the losing side will be on the verge of elimination. While they still have one more chance, the pressure can significantly change the situation.
