The Montreal Canadiens have once again stood tall in their game against the Buffalo Sabres. With a huge win in Game 5, Montreal has pushed the Sabres to the verge of elimination, making every game from here a do-or-die one for them.
The Canadiens have been in incredible form in their Round 2 matchups, recording some huge victories. Even in Game 5, the Sabres had momentum and home ice advantage, but Montreal completely reversed the situation and won with a total score of 6-3. Game 6 will be played at the Centre Bell, giving Montreal a significant home-ice advantage.
The game is all set to take place on Saturday, May 16, with the puck dropping at 8 PM ET. Fans who want to watch the game at home can do so on the following channels:
- TV Channel: ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2
- Streaming Platforms: DIRECTV, Fubo, ESPN App, Hulu, and Max
Fans were treated to an action-packed Game 5 between the two teams. During the first period, the Sabres scored three goals while the Canadiens scored two. Interestingly, Montreal produced a huge comeback in the second period, scoring three goals and finishing with a single goal in the third period.
Montreal’s main player in game 5 was the left winger Juraj Slafkovský, who contributed three assists for a total of three points. Apart from him, center Nick Suzuki was also outstanding, finishing the fifth game with one goal and two assists for a total of three points.
The Sabres HC supports Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s performance in Game 5

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen had one of his worst playoff games in Game 5 against the Montreal Canadiens. He conceded five goals in 23 attempts, prompting a reaction from Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff in the postgame interview. Ruff stated that Luukkonen had nothing to do with the first and second goals. The HC contended that the goaltender could not have prevented those goals in any way.
According to the NHL’s official website, Lindy Ruff stated,
“There’s nothing (Luukkonen) could’ve done on the first goal. There’s nothing he could’ve done on the second goal. I think the (fourth) goal that went in from a really tough angle, I think that’s one that he would want back. So, if I had made a decision, would it have made a difference? Possibly. But all year, we haven’t made it about our goaltender, and we’re not gonna make it about our goaltender now.”
Rasmus Dahlin, the Sabres captain, also spoke about the game, suggesting that the team should keep the puck for a while after scoring. In this way they will not be able to lose momentum, he explained:
“We’ve got to make sure we have four or five really hard shifts after we score. We kind of let them score right away on us, and that just kills our momentum.”
Game 6 will be critical for the Sabres because if they win, they will force a major tiebreaker Game 7, in which both teams will be under intense pressure.
