Will Mack Hollins Play This Week vs. Broncos? Injury Update on Patriots WR Ahead of NFL Conference Championship

Mack Hollins has been battling an injury this week, adding a layer of questions to the buildup to a game that has been dominated by Broncos injury news. Still, Hollins’ status could be enough to swing the game in the end.

Here’s a look at whether the New England Patriots will be able to depend on their receiver heading into the showdown against Denver.

    Mack Hollins Injury Update

Mack Hollins has been battling an abdominal injury this week. The Patriots receiver had a limited practice on Thursday and a full practice on Friday. Hollins hasn’t played since Dec. 21 against the Baltimore Ravens, when he logged seven catches for 69 yards.

New England placed him on the injured reserve, presumably primarily due to the abdominal injury.

Will Mack Hollins Play In AFC Championship Game?

According to Patriots media in a Saturday post, Mack Hollins was activated from the injured reserve. Hollins is expected to play in the contest against Denver.

With Hollins back, Denver’s defense will be stretched wider and deeper, needing to contend with Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Hunter Henry and now Hollins. As a veteran receiver who played with the Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles in his career, the receiver is no stranger to the postseason.

His presence on a roster lacking playoff experience will serve as a notable boost. If Drake Maye needs a clutch play late in the game, with the psychological pressure at its highest point and Stefon Diggs is covered, he will now be able to turn toward Hollins.

Of course, while able to play, Hollins might not be fully healthy and able to play a full 60 minutes of football. The receiver only logged one full practice on Friday before getting the green light, so he will be someone to monitor as the game goes on. It will also be important to see how he handles his first hit on the field to see if he gets up quickly or takes his time. Body language will be everything.
