The Denver Broncos will have a new starting quarterback in place of Bo Nix for the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots at Mile High on Sunday.
Nix suffered an ankle injury in the overtime win against the Buffalo Bills, needing him to undergo ankle surgery this week and get sidelined for at least 12 weeks. In the wake of this injury, head coach Sean Payton has named Jarrett Stidham as the Broncos’ starting quarterback for the Patriots game.
On Sunday, hours before the kickoff, Stidham arrived at the Mile High Stadium in a Cowboys outfit. The quarterback, who last started a game in the 2023 season, wore a brown jacket on top of a white shirt and completed the look with a Cowboy hat.
Fans expressed strong reactions in response to Broncos quarterback’s Cowboys outfit. Some fans liked Stidham’s energy, predicting the best for the Broncos.
“Yep it’s over Broncos let’s ride,” one fan commented.
“**Stidham strutting into Mile High like he owns it 🤠 Broncos backup ready to ball! NE vs DEN Sunday 🔥” another commented.
“He’s going to surprise a lot of people today. Go Broncos!” another fan added.
“Ahh can’t wait for the game to start,” one fan wrote.
“HE LOOKIN CLEAN,” one fan reacted.
“He’s locked in,” one fan wrote.
“No pressure bud! You got this! 😂” another wrote.
“Could be the look of a man about to shock the world,” one fan commented.
Broncos HC Issues Support For Jarrett Stidham
The moment couldn’t be any bigger for Jarrett Stidham when he takes the field at Mile High on Sunday. He has not started a game in two years, and he is not used to performing in such high-stakes games.
Before the AFC title game, head coach Sean Payton issued public backing for the Broncos quarterback. He is instead worried about how everyone else will play.
“I told the team this: I said, ‘I’m not worried about Stiddy in this game. I’m worried about everyone else, and how we play.’ And that really is the truth,” Payton told reporters Friday. “He’s got this calm demeanor that I think suits him well.”
Stidham himself is full of confidence, saying that every week over the last two seasons while backing up Russell Wilson and Bo Nix, he has assumed that an opportunity can come at any time so he needs to be ready.
“Obviously, it hasn’t been that way minus two weeks. So, my preparation hasn’t changed one bit,” Stidham said.
With so much confidence and swagger that he carried himself into the Mile High facilities, don’t be surprised if his performance takes Denver to the Super Bowl.
