Atlanta Falcons linebacker James Pearce Jr. has gotten into legal trouble. Pearce joined the Falcons after they picked him in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He had a three-year stint with the Tennessee Volunteers during his college career.
As per WPLG Local 10 News, Pearce was arrested after crashing his vehicle following a police chase. He was arrested this Saturday in Miami and is now facing numerous charges.
Jail record posted by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network shows Pearce’s mugshot and the charges that are being pressed against him. The initial complaint to the police was made regarding a dispute between a male and a female.
When police reached the scene, Pearce fled and then crashed at Northwest 103rd Avenue and 66th Street before being placed in handcuffs. As per Local 10 News, the woman involved in this issue was WNBA star Rickea Jackson.
This information was confirmed to Local 10 News by Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez. Pearce is now facing “charges two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and one count each of aggravated stalking and fleeing or eluding police with lights or siren.”
As of now, the Falcons star is booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and his bond has not been set yet. After the incident was reported, the Atlanta Falcons released a statement.
“We are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr., in Miami. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not have any further comment on an open legal matter at this time,” the team statement read.
More details regarding this matter will come out soon. As of now, all we know is that Pearce is at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

The annual award ceremony of the league, NFL Honors, was recently concluded. A lot of players got their due credit after being honored at the ceremony. Pearce was also nominated and was one of the finalists for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Atlanta’s first-round pick led his rookie class with 10.5 sacks and was one of the frontrunners for the award. He was nominated alongside his teammate, third-round pick Xavier Watts. But both of them lost to another linebacker.
Cleveland Browns’ Carson Schwesinger won the award after recording 156 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two interceptions throughout the season. Despite losing, Pearce was able to establish himself as a key player on Atlanta’s roster.
