The New York Giants star Cam Skattebo recently made headlines for attempting a backflip at the Fanatics Fest event last weekend and failing.
The video garnered a lot of attention because Skattebo suffered a season-ending injury in the 2025 NFL season, for which he underwent a surgery.
When asked about the viral video, new Giants coach, John Harbaugh, said that while he has yet to talk to Skattebo about it, he advised the young Running Back to “at least stick it.”
Talking about Skattebo’s move and Haraugh’s reaction to it, Louis Riddick said on Wednesday:
“No, look, John’s doing exactly what a good CEO is supposed to do. Like he’s trying to like calm the flames down. I promise you, Underneath he’s going, “What in the hell are you doing?” How many things could have gone wrong right there? I don’t care. Like look, for someone who didn’t have a surgically repaired lower body, lower leg injury, something could have went wrong here.”
“Look, we we need to stop making excuses for stuff like this when we’re talking about professionals whose professionals whose livelihood is there lower extremities in particular and just, you know, and talking it up to just let them live, let them be themselves. We like individuals. He’s just there’s no harm in that. Yeah, actually there is because he is beholden to his teammates, the organization, the expectations that are associated with this football team relative to how important he is to the team. You don’t do that kind of stuff.“
Analyst Downplays Risks to Giants Star Cam Skattebo’s Viral Backflip
While some analysts expressed concerns about Skattebo’s maturity after his backflipping video went viral, Kyle Brandt had a different perspective.
Brandt spoke about Skattebo’s personality as a whole and said that this type of behavior is expected out of the Giants’ running back because of the kind of person he is.
Talking about the situation on Monday, Brandt said on ESPN’s “Get Up”:
“The Giants have a dog. And I don’t mean like he’s got that ‘dog’ in him. He’s like an actual human Labrador,” Brandt said. “When you come home, and the dog has torn up the pillow and peed on the ground, don’t you, ‘Why’d you do that?’ Because I’m a dog and I’m always gonna do that.”
Brandt also highlighted that the backflip wasn’t Skattebo’s first and predicted it won’t be his last either.
