This year’s Super Bowl will be a rematch of the game over ten years ago, as the Seattle Seahawks once again take on the New England Patriots. This time, however, Tom Brady has long retired, while Russell Wilson may have already played his last game. This duel between two elite quarterbacks may happen again, as Drake Maye and Sam Darnold take the reins that once belonged to Wilson and Brady.
Super Bowl XLIX was held at the University of Phoenix Stadium, and it was between two very well-respected coaches, Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll. Both teams were coming in with a 12-4 record, with the game being considered a toss-up. As for the halftime show, it sparked some memes because of Katy Perry’s backup dancer dressed as a shark, catching the imagination of many.
The game is known for having one of the wildest finishes in Super Bowl history, and it was ultimately won by the Brady Bunch, also known as the Patriots. It did start slow, with the game scoreless in the first quarter before both teams entered halftime at 14-14. However, the Seahawks started pulling away, scoring 10 points in the third before setting up a wild fourth quarter.
It was Tom Brady who carried the Patriots as usual, as he found Danny Anderson for a four-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth, and then later in the game, he found Julian Edelman for a three-yard touchdown pass, handing the Patriots another Super Bowl championship win.
Brady outplayed Wilson that game and was awarded the Super Bowl MVP for his performance. He had 328 passing yards with 50 attempts and 37 completions, scoring four touchdowns but also having two interceptions.
2015 Seahawks vs Patriots Super Bowl Score
After that furious fourth quarter where the Patriots scored 14 points to outlast the then-defending champion Seattle Seahawks, the final score was 28-24. None of the scores done by New England came from field goals and were all touchdown passes by Tom Brady, who had four in the evening. Stephen Gostkowski then added four points for every touchdown pass Brady had scored.
Wilson was also impressive, as he found Chris Matthews for an 11-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and again with a three-yard touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin. But his efforts were not enough as the Patriots won another one.
