Ryan Clark Tells Tyreek Hill to Look to the Past While Picking Next Team After Unceremonious Release

Former NFL player Ryan Clark has shared his thoughts on what he believes Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill should do next to salvage his career in the professional league. On Monday, Feb. 16, reports revealed that Hill was being let go by his team, with the NFL now in the 2026 offseason.

In a video posted by former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Clark on X/Twitter, he urged Hill to return to his former team, coach Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs. Clark believes this will help Hill regain his confidence and be a part of a team whose culture admires the work Hill has done in the past.

“So for Tyreek Hill, whether it’s to go back to Kansas City and play with Patrick Mahomes, play with Eric Bieniemy, play with Andy Reid, and be back in a place that understands you, that loves you, that knows how to utilize you,” Clark said.

“It’s more important that the person he is in the locker room, that the person he is in his home, that the person he is in front of microphones is the person that he wants people to know him as, because as he moves on, that will be the legacy we talk about,” he added.

Hill is coming off his 10th season in the league, fourth with the now-former coach Mike Mcdaniel’s Dolphins. Hill spent the first six campaigns of his NFL tenure with coach Reid’s Chiefs, from 2016 to 2021. Kansas City drafted him with the 165th pick in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. In the recently concluded 2025 campaign, Hill helped Miami to an overall record of 7-10.

Ryan Clark Was Surprised With The Decision That The Miami Dolphins Coaching Staff Went With

In the same video, Ryan Clark said he was surprised by the Miami Dolphins coaching staff’s decision to release Hill.

Clark believes Hill is one of the best in the current landscape of the league, and the Dolphins still chose to turn away from him.

“The Dolphins released Tyreek Hill today. New general manager Jon Eric Sullivan and new head coach Jeff Hafley wanted a clean slate. They wanted to move on without a voice in the locker room that wasn’t going to echo what they thought should be echoed, that wasn’t going to be the sort of leader that they wanted around the new culture they were trying to build. But think about that,” Clark said.

“This is a dude that’s an eight-time Pro-Bowler, five-time all-Pro, one of the greatest and best wide receivers of his generation. And even though he’s coming off an injury, you make a decision that that’s not who we want to start with,” he continued.
