Ex Heisman Trophy Winner Makes Hold Case for Patriots To Sign Tyreek Hill Amid Abrupt Release

Tyreek Hill and the New England Patriots didn’t spend much time on top of the NFL at the same time. However, nearly a decade after that brief moment in NFL history, the possibility of the receiver joining the franchise is on the table.

One former NFL quarterback pushed for the two to join forces. In a Monday X post, Robert Griffin III pushed Patriots general manager Eliot Wolf to sign the former Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins receiver.

“The New England Patriots need to sign Tyreek Hill,” Griffin posted. “Drake Maye was the best deep ball thrower in football this year. If Tyreek Hill gets back to 90% of what he was, the Patriots get a massive mismatch chess piece on their board.”

Hill earned at least 1,700 yards in two of his last four seasons. In his last mostly healthy season, he earned 959 yards and six touchdowns. In 2025, his production hit a wall in a year defined by injury that left him with 21 catches, 265 yards and one touchdown. Despite the disastrous 2025 outing, plenty of teams have reason to line up for the wide receiver.

Additional Potential Landing Spots For Tyreek Hill

Of course, one of the most obvious potential landing spots is Kansas City, a team that gave another chance to Kareem Hunt. Hill has hinted at a desire to return to the team as well.

However, he makes sense with several other franchises as well. The Baltimore Ravens are in desperate need of a second wide receiver behind Zay Flowers. After years of facing Baltimore with the Chiefs, the Ravens have plenty of reason to make a move.

The Indianapolis Colts could be gearing up for an all-in season, and adding Hill to pair with Michael Pittman Jr. and the team’s other receivers makes sense to round out the offense.

Of course, on the off chance that teams decide to stay away from the receiver after his leg suffered multiple injuries, including a torn ACL, a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments (Ian Rapoport via NFL media), another AFC West team has reason to go all-in.

Tom Brady saw first-hand what Tyreek Hill could do during Brady’s time in New England, and the minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders has plenty of reason to recommend Hill to general manager John Spytek.

Where will Hill end up? The wait could be a short one with free agency kicking off in March.
