The Cincinnati Bengals added size to their receiver room in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, by selecting Colbie Young. At 6-foot-4, he brings a physical presence that fits well in today’s NFL. But alongside his on-field upside, his past legal situation remained part of the conversation leading into draft night.
What Happened in the 2024 Arrest Case?
In October 2024, while he was with the Georgia Bulldogs, Young was arrested following an incident involving a woman who identified herself as his ex-girlfriend.
Police reports at the time described a late-night argument at his apartment. The initial complaint accused Young of grabbing and moving the woman during the dispute, with officers noting visible marks. He was charged with misdemeanor battery and assault of an unborn child.
However, the situation didn’t stay that way for long.
After few months, the case shifted significantly. The woman later withdrew her original statement, saying the events had been misrepresented and that Young did not harm her. With that, prosecutors dropped the more serious charges.
Young eventually resolved the case by entering a no-contest plea to a lesser disorderly conduct charge.
As part of that resolution, he:
- Received 12 months of probation
- Paid a $500 fine
- Was required to complete a family violence intervention program
Because it was handled under a first-offender provision, the outcome allowed him to avoid a lasting conviction tied to the initial charges.
