Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua’s ex-girlfriend, Hallie Aiono, is raising their son, Kingston, on her own.
On Thursday, during an Instagram Q&A session with her followers, Aiono spoke about the struggles of being a single mother. When asked about sleep training Kingston, she shared her negative experience.
“I have been ‘mom-shamed’ by a Dr. because I decided to sleep train King, and I understand it is not for everybody,” Aiono wrote. “For me, especially being a single mom, the most rest and recovery I now get is with him sleeping independently and 12 hours through the night!”
Aiono thanked her nurses, Marlin and Flor, for helping with Kingston’s sleep training in separate Instagram stories on Thursday.
“There was no ‘cry it out’ method or ‘torture cries,’ even through the 4-month regression,” Aiono wrote. “Now me and my baby are well rested and I finally feel like I’m able to have the energy to be the best mama to my sweet boy.”
Aiono revealed that the process took two and a half months with the help of the night nurses.
In another Instagram story, Hallie Aiono spoke about post-partum depression after one of her followers asked her about it.
“1000%,” Aiono replied. “I have been consistent with therapy since my pregnancy. I am so so lucky to have sisters, a mom, and friends, who have carried me and my son through our darkest days. I still struggle today, and actively trying to find a balance of recognizing PPD and showing up for my son in the healthiest way every day. Brighter seasons and days are to come. I see you mama, you got this.”
Puka Nacua and his ex-girlfriend, Hallie Aiono, welcomed their baby boy on Oct. 30 last year. Nacua was present at the hospital during the birth.
Aiono shared the news of her pregnancy in May on Instagram.
While she was 19 weeks pregnant, Aiono filed a petition in Los Angeles to legally establish Nacua’s paternity.

During the latter half of the Instagram Q&A session on Thursday, someone asked Hallie Aiono about her baby’s name.
“Why did you choose Kingston as his name?” a follower questioned.
“Kingston is named after my little cousin who passed away💙,” Aiono replied.
Puka Nacua’s baby’s full name is Kingston Nacua Aiono.
