Is Zach Charbonnet Playing Today vs. Rams? Injury Update on Seahawks’ RB Ahead of NFL Conference Championship

Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet’s availability is in question for the NFC Championship game against the Los Angeles Rams. This is because the running back tore his ACL in the divisional round game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Let’s find out if he’s going to suit up tonight at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.

Is Zach Charbonnet Playing Today vs. Rams?

Zach Charbonnet will undergo knee surgery, and therefore, he won’t be available to take the field tonight and help in Seattle in short-yardage situations like he has done for the team all season long with Kenneth Walker III.

In his absence, Walker will be given an extra load and responsibility for the NFC Championship on Sunday. On the betting market, his odds to get over 84.5 rushing yards have risen to -115 on DraftKings.

During the practice this week, Seattle has also focused on other running backs, including George Holani (activated from IR) and Cam Akers and additional practice-squad backs.

Earlier this morning, Schefter said the following about Seattle’s backfield:

“The Seahawks also have questions at running back. With Zach Charbonnet out due to a torn ACL, Kenneth Walker III now will become their workhorse running back. Both Cam Akers and George Holani are expected to be used in backup roles, a source told ESPN, with some packages for each player.”

Akers will be an interesting feature back for the Seahawks, given his Super Bowl pedigree. He started the season with the Minnesota Vikings, appearing in three games, carrying the ball five times for 19 yards. He featured for the Seahawks in three games but didn’t saw any real action.

This season, in 184 carries, Charbonnet has rushed for 730 yards (4.0 yards per carry) and 12 rushing touchdowns. As a receiver, he caught 20 receptions for 144 yards. He featured in almost 50% of the team’s offensive snaps this season.

In the divisional round game against the 49ers, he carried the ball just eight times for 20 yards before getting injured.
