Heading into the 2025-2026 season, the New York Giants’ offense had two studs in wide receiver Malik Nabers and rookie running back Cam Skattebo.
Nabers was coming off of a historic rookie season where he earned a Pro Bowl nod after recording 109 catches for 1,204 yards, and seven receiving touchdowns while missing two games. Skattebo was a 2025 fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, that was expected to provide some depth and physicality at the running back position.
By the team’s eighth game of the season, both of the Giants’ young stars suffered devastating injuries. In Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium, Nabers landed on his knee awkwardly and left the game. Right away, the Giants feared he tore his ACL or suffered a major knee injury.

Right knee, it does look like it buckled inwards as he plants prior to jumping.
Sometimes these are patellar or quad tendon related, but I do think this is an ACL+ injury. pic.twitter.com/45oIVqgbiw— Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT (@jmthrivept) September 28, 2025
Tests later revealed that Nabers tore his ACL.
Is Malik Nabers Out For The Season?
Yes, Malik Nabers is out for the entire 2025-2026 season after his ACL injury. A normal recovery time for a torn ACL is roughly nine months. Barring any setbacks in his recovery, Nabers should be ready to go by the start of the 2025-2026 season.
In the four games he played in this season, Nabers recorded 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Next season, he should be a favorite target of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has yet to play with Nabers in a game.
Cam Skattebo suffered a season-ending dislocated ankle injury on October 26, against the Philadelphia Eagles. He led the Giants in rushing with 410 yards and five touchdowns and also had 207 receiving yards and a pair of receiving touchdowns.
Next season, with a health Nabers and Skattebo to go with Dart, the Giants could have a much-improved offense. The Giants at 2-11 will also hold a top pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
