A.J. Brown seems to have been destined for the New England Patriots, and his latest comments prove it. The Super Bowl LIX champion was traded to the Patriots by the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick on Monday.
In a Tuesday interview with NBC’s Maria Taylor, Brown revealed an interesting detail that shows he has always been a Patriots fan.
During the interview, Taylor noticed a Patriots-themed rug visible in the setup and asked Brown about it. The wide receiver has had that rug inside his home “for a few years,” including during his time with the Eagles.
“Some things just never change. This is my team,” Brown said. “This is my team since I was a kid. It didn’t matter. I was doing what I was supposed to be doing as an Eagle, but this is it. … “And so ever since then, through and through Patriot, Patriot, Patriot.”
The latest admission put Brown in the crosshairs of the Eagles fans.
“This diabolical 😂😂😂 Eagles fans I get it now,” one fan said.
“The Amazon driver having to get a rug to AJ Brown’s house with same day delivery before he recorded the podcast,” one fan joked.
“Not even an eagles fan but he moving weird lmao,” one fan wrote.
“Undercover opp the entire time,” one fan added.
“What an actual piece of garbage. I’m so happy he’s gone,” one fan said.
“I’m overly convinced that if we had played the Patriots in the Super Bowl, he would’ve sold the game for us,” another fan commented.
AJ Brown Reunites with Mike Vrabel on the Patriots
The trade to New England will reunite AJ Brown with his former head coach, Mike Vrabel, who is currently the Patriots’ head coach.
Vrabel was Tennessee’s head coach when the Titans drafted Brown in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Brown had a great time playing for Vrabel as he posted multiple 1,000-yard seasons. He was the focal point of the Titans’ offense before his eventual trade to the Eagles in 2022. At the time, there were rumors that Vrabel never wanted to trade Brown away.
Now, four years later, the duo is back.
Brown could be the Patriots’ No. 1 receiver in 2026, especially after the franchise parted ways with Stefon Diggs. Quarterback Drake Maye will now need to build chemistry with the veteran receiver as the Patriots hope to reach the Super Bowl again.
