It is no secret that over the past several years, Aaron Rodgers’ relationship with his family was strained. However, the veteran quarterback went viral recently after new photos of him finally getting some off-season closure surfaced.
On Instagram, Rodgers shared photos of himself posing with his parents and brother Luke. These photos were accompanied by smiles and cheers with the caption “Another bonding week.”
However, according to a post by TMZ, Aaron Rodgers had been mending his family relationships over the past few months, well before the photos he posted. On Wednesday, they shared a video of the quarterback with his mom and dad. They were attending the inaugural Pleasant Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner back in April.
In the clip, we see the four-time NFL MVP take the stage and give a speech where he thanked his parents for their contributions to his professional success. The clip also showcases him sitting down and having a normal conversation with his mom and dad.
The Green Bay Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers with the No. 24 pick in 2005. He spent 18 seasons with them and led the team to glory during Super Bowl XLV. In 2023, the four-time NFL MVP was traded to the New York Jets.
However, his debut campaign was cut short following an Achilles tendon injury in Week 1. Rodgers returned as the starter the next season. However, he could only muster a 5-12 campaign, resulting in his release in Feb. 2025.
This created an air of uncertainty about his future in the league while also sparking retirement rumors. However, in June, he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year, $13.65 million deal. Aaron Rodgers helped the team make the playoffs as the AFC North winners. However, they were eliminated by the Texans in a wild-card showdown.
In January, Mike Tomlin resigned as the head coach after 19 seasons. The team hired Mike McCarthy as his replacement. However, there was an air of uncertainty about whether Aaron Rodgers would return for another season.
In May, the Super Bowl XLV champion decided to return for his 22nd year in the NFL. Rodgers agreed to another one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers worth up to $25 million.
Former NFL HC approves Aaron Rodgers’ off-season family reunion
Former NFL head coach Rex Ryan took to social media to react to Aaron Rodgers’ photos with his family after years of estrangement.
He approved the quarterback’s efforts to mend these personal bonds while highlighting the importance of family.
Reminder to call your mom and dad and tell them you love them… sort out any issues, life’s too short. Family is all you got sometimes… Family is everything,” Ryan wrote
Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers will kick off the 2026 season with a Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons. It will be played at Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 13.
